I am a native English speaker and a Barrister/Advocate by profession. I have been an External Examiner for some of the best Universities in England and Wales. I am a passionate trainer and love to teach. I have taught children and adults English as a second language. I can start from the basics and then develop at a pace to suit the individual. I have worked with children of all ages and can open their minds to the beauty of the English Language, help them to pass tests and key examinations. Teaching can be taught if you are passionate and I am, especially developing the vocabulary, inspiring them and making it age appropriate. My greatest accolade has been to have home tutored my daughter. I teach on a one-to-one basis but I am happy to take on age appropriate groups also. I am available at most times.
Experience
I have taught ESOL to beginners and advance level in England to comply with the Law. I have tutored children of all ages some with little English and some advanced in preparation for exams. I provide assistance with those who are taking IELTS exams for the first time or those who are wishing to improve their marks. Particular emphasis is given to speech [having a conversation], writing and ensuring your grammar is correct. I have much experience in teaching adults and would be happy to tutor parents and their children. I have taught children of various abilities an grasps of the language. Children do pick the language up with careful handling and an ability to pick up on what development level. It is essential for me to understand what the aims of the parent is, the level of the child and the realistic expectations. Children are fun to teach and often exceed our expectations. Having been a practicing Barrister in England and an academic, I am also able to teach the key subjects to law students, assist with assignments and prepare for examinations at all levels. My experience will be useful to those who seek to boost their confidence when speaking English, expression, pronunciation and to be able to eloquently speak freely. Hobbies
I love reading mystery books, taking walks with my family and visiting places of historic interest. I have a particular interest in stately homes in England, having been fortunate to visit many. I love spending time with my family and baking with my daughter. I have the key skills to teach, the patience and enjoy passing on my experience to our future generations. I have an enhanced selection of books from England which I have brought with me for the use of tutoring with my students and I ensure that appropriate and up to date information is available. I also enjoy some interactive learning and teaching with the younger children which always help them to keep involved. With a native English Teacher, the child benefits with speech, pronunciation and grammar. I am a firm believer in teaching the children with the best tools and assessing them to see if they should be taught in a small group or on their own. With me as a teacher, the parents will get ongoing feedback, both written and verbal, negative and positive. I can be flexible with the rates on occasions especially when the session is continuing and I feel that the child may benefit from an additional 30 minutes. Being right does not promote confidence, nor success. I am happy to teach in small groups as that may produce better results. I have the flexibility to teach at other venues of at my home which has access to facilities to make a better learning environment. I aim to deliver the results for key tests and exams. Learning is the way for society to progress and it is our duty to ensure our future generations are equipped with knowledge, understanding and enthusiasm to develop.
